City life
Some words of Mexican urban life have a meaning of their own. A “sitio” is a taxi stand: a fixed, authorized place where taxis wait for passengers and which you can call by phone, unlike taxis that cruise the streets.
“El Torito” is the popular name of Mexico City’s Center for Administrative Sanctions and Social Integration, where drivers caught at a sobriety checkpoint (alcoholímetro) for drunk driving end up. Detention there cannot be swapped for a fine.
