Great Mexican poets

Mexico has a very rich poetic tradition. Its best-known poets include Octavio Paz, Amado Nervo, Rosario Castellanos and Jaime Sabines.

Octavio Paz (1914–1998), poet, essayist and diplomat, received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1990 and is still the only Mexican to win it; his most famous essay is The Labyrinth of Solitude. Amado Nervo was a key figure of modernismo, and Rosario Castellanos and Jaime Sabines, both linked to Chiapas, are among the best-loved poets of the 20th century.
