Memelas

A memela is a corn-masa snack pressed into a thick oval, cooked on the comal and topped with salsa, cheese, beans or a stew. Its name comes from Nahuatl, and it is typical of Puebla and Oaxaca.

It belongs to the family of masa snacks along with sopes and tlacoyos, with which it is sometimes confused.
