The Ariel Award
The Ariel is the most prestigious award in Mexican cinema, the national equivalent of the Oscar. It has been presented every year since 1947 by the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences (AMACC).
Winners include classics such as Luis Buñuel’s Los olvidados and recent films such as Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma. It should not be confused with the Diosa de Plata, given by film journalists.
