The emblematic places
The Day of the Dead is celebrated all over Mexico, but some places are especially famous for keeping the ancestral tradition alive: Pátzcuaro, in Michoacán; San Andrés Mixquic, in Mexico City (formerly the Federal District); the Huasteca Potosina; Huaquechula, in Puebla; and Ocotepec, in Morelos. There, the living and the dead still meet in homes, streets and cemeteries.
