Where is the Danza de los Viejitos from?

The Danza de los Viejitos (“Dance of the Little Old Men”) is a traditional dance of the Purépecha people of Michoacán, performed especially in the region around Lake Pátzcuaro. Dancers wear smiling old-man masks, colorful sarapes and hats with ribbons; they enter hunched over their canes and then surprise the audience with fast, vigorous footwork.

Do not confuse it with the jarabe tapatío, the famous dance associated with Jalisco.
