Rosca de Reyes
The rosca de Reyes is an oval ring of sweet bread decorated with strips of candied fruit, shared with family and friends on January 6, Three Kings’ Day (Día de Reyes). Small figurines of the baby Jesus are hidden inside the dough.
Whoever finds a figurine in their slice must host a party with tamales on February 2, Candlemas (Día de la Candelaria). Don’t confuse the rosca with pan de muerto, the bread baked for the Day of the Dead in early November.
