Piñata

The piñata is a decorated container, traditionally a clay pot covered in colored paper, filled with fruit and candy and hung from a rope. Blindfolded guests take turns striking it with a stick until it breaks and everyone scrambles for the treats, all while the crowd sings the classic piñata song.

Piñatas are essential at birthday parties and at the Christmas posadas. The traditional star shape with seven points is said to represent the seven deadly sins, so breaking it symbolizes the triumph of faith over sin.
