Jarana yucateca

The jarana is the traditional dance of Yucatán, performed by couples at the festive gatherings called vaquerías and at town fairs across the peninsula. Dancers in white regional dress raise their arms and snap their fingers, and in a famous crowd-pleasing variation they dance while balancing a tray or bottle on their heads.

A possible confusion: in Veracruz, “jarana” also names a small guitar used in son jarocho, but as a dance the jarana belongs to Yucatán.
