Danza del Venado

The Dance of the Deer (Danza del Venado) is a traditional dance of the Yaqui and Mayo peoples of Sonora, in northwestern Mexico. The lead dancer wears a deer head on his own and, accompanied by rattles, drums, and flutes, imitates the movements of a deer being hunted.

It is performed at religious festivities, especially during Holy Week, and has become one of the most recognized Indigenous dances of Mexico, often presented by folk ballet companies.
