Calavera literaria

They are humorous rhymes that portray living people — politicians, friends, teachers — as if they had already died, often with Death carrying them off. They began as satire in the 19th-century press, and José Guadalupe Posada’s skull engravings, such as La Catrina, accompanied the genre.
