In which conflict did the adelitas accompany their men into combat?

The adelitas, also called soldaderas, were women who took part in the Mexican Revolution, which began in 1910. They traveled with the revolutionary armies, cooking, nursing the wounded, carrying supplies, and in many cases fighting in battle themselves.

The name comes from ‘La Adelita’, a popular corrido (folk ballad) of the Revolution about a brave young woman who followed the troops. The adelitas became an enduring symbol of women’s participation in Mexican history.
