Huelga de Cananea

Cananea’s copper miners demanded pay equal to that of American workers and better conditions; the protest was violently repressed. Together with the Río Blanco textile strike (1907), it exposed workers’ discontent under the Porfiriato, which is why Cananea is called the “cradle of the Revolution.”
