Zapata fell into an ambush laid by Colonel Jesús Guajardo, who pretended to defect to his side on orders from General Pablo González, during Venustiano Carranza’s government. To keep them straight: Pancho Villa was assassinated years later, in 1923, in Parral, Chihuahua.
