Tequila (Jalisco)

Pueblos Mágicos, or Magical Towns, is a designation the federal tourism ministry has awarded since 2001 to towns with special historical, cultural or natural charm. Tequila, Jalisco, is one of the best known: it gives its name to Mexico’s most famous spirit, distilled there from blue agave.

The surrounding agave landscape and the old tequila distilleries were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, and the town sits at the foot of the Tequila volcano.
