Pueblos Mágicos

Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) is a designation created in 2001 by Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) for towns that preserve special cultural, historical, or natural attributes. The label is meant to promote tourism beyond the big cities and beach resorts.

More than one hundred towns across the country carry the title, including places like Tepoztlán, Real de Catorce, and Valle de Bravo. It is an official government program, not a UNESCO or international designation.
