Izamal

Izamal, in the state of Yucatán, is known as the ‘Yellow City’ because nearly all its buildings are painted ochre yellow. Its Franciscan convent of San Antonio de Padua was built in the 16th century on top of the platform of a huge Maya pyramid.

It is called the ‘city of three cultures’ for blending its Maya, colonial and modern heritage, and it has been a Magical Town since 2002.
