Tolteca

Strictly speaking, ‘Toltec’ (from the Nahuatl toltecatl) means an inhabitant of Tula, also called Tollan, the capital the Toltec culture built in today’s state of Hidalgo around AD 900-1150, famous for its Atlantean warrior columns.

The Toltecs were so admired that in Nahuatl the word also came to mean a master artisan, and later peoples such as the Mexica proudly claimed Toltec ancestry.
