Tláloc

Tláloc was the god of rain and one of the most important deities throughout Mesoamerica, since harvests depended on the waters he was believed to provide. One of the two shrines atop the Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan was dedicated to him; the other belonged to Huitzilopochtli, the god of war.

He is easily recognized in Mexica art by his goggle-like rings around the eyes and his fangs. A colossal stone monument associated with Tláloc now stands at the entrance of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.
