Juego de pelota mesoamericano

The Mesoamerican ballgame, called ullamaliztli in Nahuatl, was played with a heavy solid rubber ball that players struck mainly with their hips on I-shaped stone courts. Nearly every major archaeological site has a ballcourt; the largest known is at Chichén Itzá.

It was both sport and ritual, tied to myths about the sun and the underworld, and some games ended in human sacrifice. A modern descendant, ulama, is still played in Sinaloa.
