Ixchel
Ixchel was the Maya goddess of the moon, and also of midwifery, medicine, and weaving. Maya women made pilgrimages to her shrines on the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, off the coast of today’s Quintana Roo.
Don’t confuse her with Coyolxauhqui, the moon goddess of the Mexica (Aztecs), a different culture in central Mexico.
