Cultura tolteca

The Toltecs were a Mesoamerican civilization that flourished between roughly 900 and 1150 CE, with their capital at Tula (also called Tollan), in the present-day state of Hidalgo. The site is famous for the Atlantes of Tula, giant stone warrior columns.

Later peoples such as the Mexica (Aztecs) admired the Toltecs as master artisans and claimed descent from them. Do not confuse Tula, the Toltec capital, with Tenochtitlán, the later capital of the Mexica.
