Anexo:Patrimonio de la Humanidad en México

These are ruins of major pre-Columbian cities whose universal value UNESCO has formally recognized. The list also includes Uxmal, Xochicalco, Calakmul, and Paquimé. Each site represents a different culture: Chichén Itzá and Palenque the Maya, Monte Albán the Zapotec, El Tajín the Gulf cultures, and Teotihuacan a metropolis that flourished centuries before the Aztecs.

Not every famous Mexican ruin is on the list: well-known zones such as Tulum, Cholula, and Tula are not inscribed. And remember that Tikal, though a Maya city, is a heritage site of Guatemala, not Mexico.
