Mariachi

Mariachi is Mexico’s most emblematic musical tradition, born in the west of the country, especially in Jalisco. A mariachi ensemble typically combines violins, trumpets, guitars, the vihuela and the guitarrón, with musicians dressed in charro outfits.

In 2011 UNESCO inscribed mariachi on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
