Palacio de Bellas Artes (Ciudad de México)

The Palace of Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) is Mexico City’s grand marble opera house and cultural center, home to murals by Diego Rivera, Orozco, and Siqueiros. Its construction began in 1904 under Porfirio Díaz, was interrupted by the Revolution, and was finally completed decades later.

It was inaugurated on September 29, 1934, during the presidency of Abelardo Rodríguez. Be careful not to confuse the president who started the project (Porfirio Díaz) with the one under whom it opened.
