Elena Poniatowska, born in 1932, is a Mexican journalist and writer who received the Cervantes Prize, the highest award in Spanish-language letters, in 2013. La noche de Tlatelolco (1971) gathers testimonies of the October 2, 1968 massacre of students at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City, just days before the Olympic Games opened.
