José Emilio Pacheco
José Emilio Pacheco (1939–2014) was one of Mexico’s most beloved modern writers, author of the novel Las batallas en el desierto and winner of the Cervantes Prize in 2009. Las voces de Tlatelolco evokes the massacre of student protesters at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City, on October 2, 1968.
Don’t confuse it with La noche de Tlatelolco, the famous oral-history chronicle of the same massacre by Elena Poniatowska.
