Plan de Casa Mata

The Plan of Casa Mata was proclaimed on February 1, 1823, by Antonio López de Santa Anna and other military leaders against Emperor Agustín de Iturbide, demanding the restoration of the Congress he had dissolved. The revolt spread quickly, and Iturbide abdicated in March 1823, ending the First Mexican Empire and paving the way for the republic.

Don’t confuse it with the Plan of Iguala (1821), which was Iturbide’s own plan proclaiming Mexico’s independence.
