Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez

Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, ‘La Corregidora’ of Querétaro, warned the conspirators in September 1810 that their plot had been discovered, prompting Miguel Hidalgo to launch the Grito de Dolores early. Leona Vicario used her fortune to fund the insurgency and ran information networks for the rebels.

Both are celebrated as heroines of the War of Independence (1810–1821) — not of the Revolution, which came a century later.
