Guadalupe Victoria

Guadalupe Victoria, born José Miguel Ramón Adaucto Fernández y Félix, fought in the War of Independence and became Mexico’s first president in 1824, under the country’s first federal constitution. He served his full term until 1829, something few presidents of that turbulent era managed.

Don’t confuse him with Agustín de Iturbide, who ruled newly independent Mexico before him — but as emperor (1822–1823), never as president.
