El Pensador Mexicano

El Pensador Mexicano was a newspaper founded in 1812 by José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi, who used it to criticize colonial rule during the War of Independence and adopted its name as his own pen name.

Lizardi is also remembered as the author of El Periquillo Sarniento (1816), considered the first novel written in Latin America.
