Televisión digital terrestre en México

The transition to digital terrestrial television, popularly called the “analog switch-off,” replaced Mexico’s old analog TV broadcasts with digital signals, which offer better image quality and use the radio spectrum more efficiently. The process concluded on December 31, 2015, making Mexico the first country in Latin America to complete the switch-off.

The change stemmed from the 2013 telecommunications reform, and the government distributed millions of digital televisions to low-income households to prepare for it.
