The Battle of San Jacinto was the decisive engagement of the Texas Revolution. Santa Anna was captured, and after the defeat Texas separated from Mexico; its 1845 annexation by the United States led to the war of 1846-1848.

Don’t confuse this battle with the Mexican-American War, which came a decade later.
