Plan de Tuxtepec

The Plan of Tuxtepec, proclaimed in 1876, was Porfirio Díaz’s successful rebellion against the reelection of President Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, raised under the banner of “no reelection.” Its triumph brought Díaz to power and opened the long period of his rule known as the Porfiriato.

Don’t confuse it with the Plan of La Noria, Díaz’s earlier, failed revolt of 1871 against the reelection of Benito Juárez.
