Plan de Casa Mata

The Plan of Casa Mata was proclaimed on February 1, 1823, at the Casa Mata fort near Veracruz by Antonio López de Santa Anna and other military leaders. It demanded the restoration of the congress that Emperor Agustín de Iturbide had dissolved, and it gained support so quickly that Iturbide abdicated in March 1823, opening the way to the first federal republic.

Don’t confuse it with the Plan of Iguala (1821), which Iturbide himself proclaimed to achieve independence.
