Movimiento de 1968 en México

In the summer and fall of 1968, students in Mexico City led massive protests demanding democratic freedoms and an end to government repression, during the presidency of Gustavo Díaz Ordaz. The movement ended tragically on October 2, 1968, when the army opened fire on a rally at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, killing an undetermined number of people.

The massacre took place just days before Mexico City hosted the Olympic Games, and October 2 is remembered each year with the phrase “2 de octubre no se olvida”.
