México prehispánico

Pre-Hispanic (or pre-Columbian) Mexico covers thousands of years of Indigenous civilization, from the first settlements and the domestication of maize to great cultures such as the Olmec, Maya, Teotihuacan, Zapotec, and Mexica.

The period ends in 1521, when Hernán Cortés and his Indigenous allies took Mexico-Tenochtitlan. Don’t confuse that date with 1519, when the Spanish landed in Mexico, or 1810, when the War of Independence began.
