The first line, opened on September 4, 1969, ran from Zaragoza to Chapultepec; today the capital’s Metro is one of the largest in the Americas. Díaz Ordaz’s term (1964-1970) also saw the 1968 Olympic Games and the Tlatelolco massacre.
