León Trotski

Leon Trotsky was one of the leaders of the Russian Revolution. After losing a power struggle with Stalin, he was exiled from the Soviet Union, and in 1937 President Lázaro Cárdenas granted him asylum in Mexico, where the painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo helped receive him.

Trotsky settled in the Coyoacán district of Mexico City, where he was assassinated in 1940 by Ramón Mercader, an agent of Stalin. His house is now a museum.
