Justo Sierra Méndez

Justo Sierra, known as the “Teacher of the Americas,” was the great champion of education during the Porfiriato and promoted the founding of the National University of Mexico in 1910. Don’t confuse him with José Vasconcelos, the first secretary of the present-day Ministry of Public Education (SEP), created in 1921.
