Juan Escutia

The Niños Héroes were six cadets of the Military College who died defending Chapultepec Castle on September 13, 1847, during the US invasion. Tradition holds that Juan Escutia wrapped himself in the Mexican flag and leaped to his death so it would not fall into enemy hands.

Historians debate the details, but this is the version taught in schools and asked on exams.
