Ferrocarril Mexicano

It was a stretch of about 11 kilometers, part of the project to link Veracruz with Mexico City. The full Mexico City-Veracruz line, the Ferrocarril Mexicano, was only completed in 1873 under Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada.

The great railroad expansion came later, during the Porfiriato, when the network grew to nearly 19,000 kilometers.
