El Hijo del Ahuizote

El Hijo del Ahuizote was a satirical opposition weekly founded in 1885 that mocked Porfirio Díaz’s regime with biting cartoons. The Flores Magón brothers later ran it, and its offices produced the famous 1903 photograph of journalists under the banner “The Constitution has died.”

Don’t confuse it with Regeneración, the Flores Magón brothers’ political newspaper, which opposed Díaz through essays rather than satire. Many of its writers suffered persecution and imprisonment for their criticism.
