Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (México)
The Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP) is Mexico’s federal finance ministry, responsible for the country’s tax policy, public finances, and budget. In practice, taxes are collected through the SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria), an agency that reports to Hacienda.
Do not confuse it with the Banco de México, the autonomous central bank, which issues currency and conducts monetary policy but does not collect taxes.
