Secretaría de Educación Pública (México)

The cédula profesional is the official license that authorizes someone to practice a regulated profession in Mexico, such as medicine, law, or engineering. It is issued by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) through its General Directorate of Professions.

Universities grant the academic degree, but only the SEP issues the cédula that makes professional practice legal, a distinction worth keeping clear.
