Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor

PROFECO is the Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Federal Consumer Protection Agency), created in 1976 — the first agency of its kind in Latin America. It enforces the Federal Consumer Protection Law, mediates disputes between customers and businesses, and monitors prices and advertising.

Don’t confuse it with CONDUSEF, which handles complaints specifically against banks and other financial institutions, or with the CNDH, which deals with human rights.
