Instituto Nacional Electoral

The National Electoral Institute (INE) is an autonomous public body, independent of the government, that organizes federal elections and coordinates with local electoral authorities in the states. It also maintains the voter registry and issues the voting credential, which doubles as Mexico’s most widely used ID.

Don’t confuse it with the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), which does not organize elections but resolves disputes about them and validates results.
