Ejército Mexicano
Under Article 89 of the Mexican Constitution, the president is the supreme commander of the armed forces: the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy. This makes the civilian head of state, not a general, the highest military authority.
Day-to-day administration is handled by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) for the Army and Air Force and by the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), but both answer to the president.
