Which volcanoes are located in the State of Mexico and Puebla?

Popocatépetl (“smoking mountain”) and Iztaccíhuatl (“white woman”) are twin volcanoes on the border between the State of Mexico and Puebla, linked by a famous legend about the warrior Popocatépetl and the princess Iztaccíhuatl. Popocatépetl is still active, while Iztaccíhuatl is dormant.

They are Mexico’s second and third highest peaks; the highest is the Pico de Orizaba (Citlaltépetl), on the border between Veracruz and Puebla.
