Río Bravo

The Río Bravo, known in the United States as the Rio Grande, runs about 3,000 kilometers and forms the natural border between Mexico and the United States from Ciudad Juárez to the Gulf of Mexico. Its role as the boundary line was fixed by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.

Do not confuse it with the Lerma-Santiago system, the longest river lying entirely within Mexican territory; the Río Bravo is shared with the United States but is the country’s longest river overall.
